Located in the foothills of Mount Kinabalu, this natural haven offers a unique blend of relaxation and adventure. Poring Hot Springs was developed by the Japanese during World War II, who discovered the therapeutic properties of the sulfurous waters. The name "Poring" comes from a Dusun word meaning "bamboo." After the war, the area was further developed as a tourist attraction, offering visitors a chance to soak in the mineral-rich waters believed to have healing properties. The surrounding area is also rich in biodiversity, making it a prime location for exploring the rainforest. Visitors can indulge in the therapeutic hot spring baths, explore the lush rainforest trails, and marvel at the diverse flora and fauna. For the adventurous, the canopy walkway offers a thrilling experience high above the forest floor, providing breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Don't miss the chance to visit the nearby Kipungit Waterfall and Langanan Waterfall for a refreshing dip in the cool waters. While Poring itself doesn't have a unique culinary tradition, you can find local eateries nearby serving Sabah's delicious cuisine, including fresh seafood and Hinava (raw fish salad).
