Betafo Beach Guide
Betafo Beach: A Highland Oasis Guide
Betafo Beach, located near the town of Betafo in the highlands of Madagascar, is a surprising and delightful find. Unlike the coastal beaches Madagascar is famous for, Betafo Beach is situated on the shores of a man-made lake, offering a unique inland beach experience. The lake provides a refreshing escape from the heat, and the sandy shores are perfect for relaxing and soaking up the sun. This unexpected oasis is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, offering a blend of relaxation and recreation in a picturesque setting. The lake on which Betafo Beach is situated was created as part of an irrigation project to support the agricultural activities in the region. Betafo has long been an important agricultural center, and the lake plays a vital role in providing water for the surrounding rice paddies and farms. The beach itself is a more recent development, created to provide a recreational space for the local community and to attract tourists to the area. At Betafo Beach, visitors can enjoy swimming in the lake, sunbathing on the sandy shores, and picnicking with family and friends. Boat rides are often available, allowing you to explore the lake and enjoy the surrounding scenery. The area is also a great spot for birdwatching, with a variety of water birds inhabiting the lake. Local vendors sell snacks and drinks, and there are often opportunities to try traditional Malagasy dishes.
