The Bayterek Tower is an iconic monument in Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan. Rising majestically from the city center, it represents a young and rapidly developing nation. Its unique design, resembling a poplar tree holding a golden egg, makes it a must-see for any visitor. The tower offers panoramic views of the city and symbolizes Kazakhstan's aspirations for the future. The Bayterek Tower was conceived as a symbol of the new capital and the country's independence. Construction began in 1996 and was completed in 2002. The tower's design is based on a Kazakh folktale about a mythical tree of life and a magic bird of happiness. The golden sphere at the top represents the egg of the bird, symbolizing new beginnings and prosperity. Inside the sphere is a panoramic hall with stunning views of Nur-Sultan. Visitors can ascend to the top of the Bayterek Tower via a high-speed elevator. Once at the top, you can enjoy breathtaking 360-degree views of Nur-Sultan. Inside the golden sphere, you'll find a wooden globe with the handprint of Nursultan Nazarbayev, the first President of Kazakhstan. It's a tradition to place your hand on the print and make a wish. There's also a small art gallery and a cafe where you can relax and enjoy the view. While there isn't a specific culinary tradition directly associated with the tower, many restaurants nearby offer traditional Kazakh cuisine.
