Kaede no Yu (Maple Bath) Guide
Kaede no Yu: Relax and Rejuvenate in a Modern Onsen Oasis Guide
Escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life at Kaede no Yu, a modern and stylish onsen facility located in Yamanouchi. This beautifully designed bathhouse offers a tranquil retreat where you can soak in the therapeutic waters of natural hot springs while enjoying stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Whether you're seeking relaxation, rejuvenation, or simply a moment of peace, Kaede no Yu provides the perfect setting to unwind and reconnect with nature. Unlike the historic onsen towns, Kaede no Yu is a relatively new addition to the Yamanouchi landscape. However, it is built upon the region's long-standing tradition of onsen culture, offering a contemporary take on the classic Japanese bathing experience. The facility is designed to blend seamlessly with its natural surroundings, incorporating elements of wood and stone to create a serene and inviting atmosphere. At Kaede no Yu, you can indulge in a variety of bathing options, including indoor and outdoor baths, saunas, and relaxation areas. The outdoor baths offer breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, especially beautiful during the autumn foliage season when the maple trees (kaede in Japanese) turn vibrant shades of red and gold. After your bath, treat yourself to a massage or enjoy a meal at the on-site restaurant, which serves delicious local cuisine.
Transportation
Kaede no Yu is accessible by bus from Yudanaka Station. From Yudanaka Station, take the local bus bound for Shiga Kogen. Get off at the "Kaede no Yu" bus stop, which is directly in front of the onsen facility. The bus ride takes approximately 15-20 minutes.
