Noboribetsu Bear Park Guide
Get Up Close and Personal with Hokkaido's Brown Bears! Guide
Noboribetsu Bear Park offers a unique opportunity to observe Hokkaido brown bears in a natural-like environment. This popular attraction allows visitors to learn about these magnificent creatures and witness their behavior up close. It's a fantastic experience for families, animal lovers, and anyone interested in Hokkaido's wildlife. The park was established to provide a sanctuary for brown bears and educate the public about their conservation. It features two main bear enclosures: the "First Ranch" and the "Second Ranch," each housing different groups of bears. Visitors can observe the bears from elevated walkways and feeding platforms, offering excellent views. You can even purchase bear food to toss into the enclosures, which is always a crowd-pleaser! Beyond bear viewing, the park also includes a museum dedicated to the Ainu people, the indigenous people of Hokkaido, and their relationship with bears. There's also a duck race, a small amusement park, and souvenir shops. While there isn't a specific culinary tradition directly tied to the park, you'll find plenty of opportunities to sample Hokkaido's famous seafood and other local delicacies in nearby Noboribetsu Onsen town.
