Shirotori Garden Guide
Tranquility in the City: Discover the Serene Beauty of Shirotori Garden Guide
Escape the hustle and bustle of Nagoya and immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty of Shirotori Garden. This stunning Japanese garden, designed in the chisen-kaiyu-shiki (pond-stroll) style, offers a peaceful retreat for visitors seeking a moment of serenity and connection with nature. With its meticulously crafted landscapes, serene ponds, and traditional structures, Shirotori Garden is a true oasis in the heart of the city. Shirotori Garden was created on the former site of a paper mill and opened to the public in 1989. The garden's design is inspired by the legend of the white bird (Shirotori) that is said to have flown over the area. The central pond represents the sea, while the artificial hills and carefully placed stones evoke the natural landscapes of Japan. The garden also features a traditional teahouse, the Seiu-tei, where visitors can experience a traditional tea ceremony (reservations often required). Wander along the winding paths that meander through the garden, discovering hidden waterfalls, meticulously manicured trees, and vibrant seasonal flowers. The garden is particularly beautiful during the spring cherry blossom season and the autumn foliage season. Participate in a traditional tea ceremony at the Seiu-tei teahouse for an authentic cultural experience. The garden's restaurant offers a selection of Japanese cuisine, allowing you to savor the flavors of the region while enjoying the picturesque surroundings.
