The museum's building itself has a history, having served as an elementary school until 1999. The museum opened in 2006 as a joint project between Kyoto City and Kyoto Seika University. Visitors can freely browse and read manga from the extensive collection in the museum's open reading areas. The museum also hosts exhibitions, workshops, and events related to manga. Transportation

The Kyoto International Manga Museum is located near Karasuma Oike Station on the Karasuma Subway Line and Tozai Subway Line. It's a short walk from the station. Alternatively, you can take Kyoto City Bus to Karasuma Oike bus stop.

Opening Hours

10:30 AM to 5:30 PM (Last entry at 5:00 PM). Closed on Wednesdays (or the following Thursday if Wednesday is a national holiday) and during the New Year holidays.

Ticket Price

900 yen for adults, 500 yen for junior and high school students, 300 yen for elementary school students.
