Nature's Playground: Explore the Scenic Beauty of Onuma Park Guide
Onuma Park is a stunning national park located just a short distance from Hakodate, offering breathtaking views of Mount Komagatake and the surrounding lakes and forests. This picturesque park is a popular destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts, with a wide range of activities to enjoy throughout the year. Whether you're looking for a relaxing boat ride, a scenic hike, or a thrilling cycling adventure, Onuma Park has something for everyone. The park's centerpiece is Lake Onuma, a large lake dotted with numerous small islands. These islands were formed by volcanic activity from Mount Komagatake, which provides a dramatic backdrop to the park's scenery. The area has been inhabited for centuries, and the park's natural beauty has been appreciated by locals and visitors alike. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including boat tours of the lake, canoeing, kayaking, cycling along the park's many trails, and hiking to scenic viewpoints. In winter, the lake freezes over, offering opportunities for ice skating and snowshoeing. The park also has several restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy local cuisine while taking in the stunning views. Don't miss the chance to try the local specialty, "Onuma Dango," a sweet rice cake skewer.
