Tatsumaki Jigoku (Tornado Hell) Guide

Tatsumaki Jigoku: Witness Nature's Geothermal Spectacle Guide

Prepare to be amazed by Tatsumaki Jigoku, or "Tornado Hell," a captivating geothermal wonder that showcases the raw power of nature. Unlike the other "Hells" of Beppu, Tatsumaki Jigoku isn't a colorful pond, but rather a geyser that erupts with impressive force every 30-40 minutes. Witnessing this natural spectacle is a truly unforgettable experience. The geyser at Tatsumaki Jigoku erupts with hot water and steam, reaching heights of up to 20 meters. To ensure visitor safety, a protective stone structure has been built around the geyser, allowing you to observe the eruption from a safe distance. The eruptions are predictable, and seating is provided, making it a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all. While the geyser is the main attraction, Tatsumaki Jigoku also offers a small garden area where you can relax and enjoy the surrounding scenery. You can also find local snacks and souvenirs at the on-site shop. While not known for a specific culinary tradition unique to this "Hell," you can often find variations of Jigoku steamed foods available, offering a taste of the local geothermal cooking methods.
