Beppu Beach Sand Bath Guide
Buried Bliss: Experience the Healing Power of Beppu's Sand Baths Guide
Indulge in a truly unique and therapeutic experience at Beppu Beach Sand Bath, where you'll be buried in naturally heated sand infused with the geothermal energy of Beppu's hot springs. This traditional bathing method is renowned for its health benefits and offers a relaxing and rejuvenating way to connect with nature. Prepare to unwind and let the warm sand melt away your stress. The practice of sand bathing in Beppu dates back centuries, with locals recognizing the therapeutic properties of the naturally heated sand. The volcanic activity beneath Beppu heats the sand, creating a natural sauna effect that is believed to improve circulation, relieve muscle pain, and detoxify the body. Over time, this tradition has evolved into a popular tourist attraction, offering visitors a chance to experience a unique aspect of Beppu's geothermal heritage. At Beppu Beach Sand Bath, you'll be provided with a yukata (light cotton kimono) to wear. You'll then lie down in a shallow pit dug in the sand, and staff will carefully cover you with the warm sand, leaving your head exposed. Relax and enjoy the warmth for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the heat to penetrate your body. After your sand bath, you can rinse off in the on-site showers and enjoy a refreshing drink.
