Transportation
Reaching the Stelvio Pass Road is best done by car or motorcycle. From Bormio, take the SS38 road towards the Stelvio Pass. From Prato allo Stelvio, take the SS38 in the opposite direction. Be aware that the road is typically closed during the winter months due to heavy snow. Check road conditions before you travel. Public transportation options are limited. Buses connect nearby towns to the base of the pass, but reaching the summit by public transport is difficult.
