Sorgeto Hot Springs: Bathe in Nature's Cauldron Guide

The Sorgeto Hot Springs, nestled in a small bay on the island of Ischia, offer a truly unique and unforgettable bathing experience. Unlike typical thermal spas, Sorgeto is a natural phenomenon where hot, mineral-rich spring water mixes directly with the sea, creating pools of varying temperatures. Imagine soaking in warm, therapeutic waters while the waves gently lap against the rocks – it's a truly magical and rejuvenating experience. The thermal activity at Sorgeto is a direct result of Ischia's volcanic origins. For centuries, locals have known about and utilized these natural hot springs for their healing properties. While there isn't a specific historical narrative tied to a particular building or event, the springs' history is deeply intertwined with the island's volcanic past and the traditions of using thermal waters for health and well-being. It's a place where nature's power is on full display, offering a glimpse into the island's geological heart. The primary activity at Sorgeto is, of course, bathing in the thermal waters. Find a spot where the hot spring water mixes with the sea to your liking. Be cautious, as some areas can be very hot, especially near the source of the springs. You can also swim in the sea, explore the rocky coastline, and simply relax and enjoy the stunning views. While there aren't formal restaurants directly on the beach, you'll find a few cafes and snack bars offering refreshments and light meals. Ischia is renowned for its fresh seafood, rabbit stew (Coniglio all'Ischitana), and locally grown produce, so be sure to sample the island's culinary delights during your visit.

Transportation

To reach Sorgeto Hot Springs, take a bus to the village of Panza. From Panza, you'll need to walk down a long and steep set of steps (around 200) to reach the bay. Be prepared for the climb back up! Alternatively, you can take a taxi boat from Sant'Angelo, which offers a scenic route and avoids the steps.
