In the 20th century, the villa was acquired by Guido Monzino, an explorer who led the first Italian expedition to climb Mount Everest. He furnished the villa with artifacts and mementos from his travels, which are still on display today. After his death, he bequeathed the villa to the Fondo Ambiente Italiano (FAI), the Italian National Trust, which now manages and preserves it. A visit to Villa del Balbianello is a journey through history, art, and natural beauty.
