Welcome to Ragunan Zoo, a sprawling zoological park in the heart of Jakarta, Indonesia. This beloved attraction offers a fantastic escape into the world of wildlife, showcasing a diverse collection of animals from across Indonesia and the globe. Whether you're a family with young children, a nature enthusiast, or simply looking for a relaxing day out, Ragunan Zoo provides an engaging and educational experience for all. Prepare to be amazed by the variety of creatures and the lush greenery that makes this zoo a true urban oasis. Ragunan Zoo has a rich history, dating back to its establishment in 1864. Originally located in Cikini, Central Jakarta, it was moved to its current location in Ragunan, South Jakarta, in 1966 due to overcrowding and the need for more space. The zoo has since grown into a significant conservation center, playing a vital role in protecting endangered Indonesian species. Over the years, it has undergone numerous improvements and expansions, making it a modern and well-maintained facility for both animals and visitors. At Ragunan Zoo, you can embark on a captivating journey through various animal habitats. Observe Sumatran tigers, orangutans, Komodo dragons, and a wide array of birds, reptiles, and mammals. Enjoy leisurely walks along the shaded pathways, rent a bicycle to explore the vast grounds, or take a relaxing boat ride on the lake. The zoo also features a children's zoo, where kids can interact with gentle animals, and a primate center dedicated to the study and conservation of primates. Don't miss the opportunity to witness animal feeding sessions and educational shows, providing insights into the fascinating lives of these creatures. While there isn't a specific culinary tradition associated with the zoo itself, numerous food stalls and restaurants within the park offer a variety of Indonesian and international cuisine to satisfy your appetite.
