Pasir Putih Beach (Virgin Beach) Guide
Pasir Putih: Candidasa's Hidden Gem of White Sand Bliss Guide
Escape the crowds and discover Pasir Putih, also known as Virgin Beach or White Sand Beach, a stunning stretch of coastline near Candidasa. This isn't your typical tourist-packed beach; it's a relatively secluded paradise offering pristine white sand, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and a laid-back atmosphere. Imagine yourself lounging under the shade of a palm tree, sipping on a fresh coconut, and listening to the gentle lapping of the waves – that's the magic of Pasir Putih. It's the perfect spot for a relaxing day trip or a longer stay if you're seeking tranquility and natural beauty. The beach's allure lies in its simplicity. Unlike some of Bali's more developed beaches, Pasir Putih retains a rustic charm. Local warungs (small restaurants) line the shore, offering delicious and affordable Indonesian cuisine. You can rent a sun lounger and umbrella for a small fee, or simply spread out your towel on the soft sand. The calm waters are ideal for swimming and snorkeling, and you might even spot some colorful fish near the coral reefs. Activities abound for those seeking a bit more than relaxation. Snorkeling gear can be rented from the warungs, allowing you to explore the underwater world. Fishing trips can also be arranged with local fishermen. And of course, no visit to Pasir Putih is complete without indulging in some fresh seafood. The warungs serve up grilled fish, prawns, and other delicacies, often caught fresh that day. Don't miss the opportunity to try the local grilled fish with sambal matah, a spicy Balinese relish made with shallots, lemongrass, chili, and lime.
Transportation
The easiest way to reach Pasir Putih is by renting a scooter or hiring a private driver from Candidasa or Padang Bai. The road leading to the beach can be a bit bumpy in places, so be prepared for a slightly adventurous ride. Alternatively, you can take a local bemo (minibus) towards Bugbug village and then walk the remaining distance to the beach (approximately 15-20 minutes). Be aware that the bemo service may be infrequent.
