The story tells of Dayang Sumbi, a beautiful woman who challenged her son, Sangkuriang, to build a dam and a boat in a single night as a condition for marriage. When Sangkuriang failed to complete the tasks before dawn, Dayang Sumbi, realizing he was her son, kicked the boat in anger, causing it to overturn and become the mountain we know today. This captivating tale adds a layer of mystique and cultural significance to the already impressive volcanic landscape. Visitors can explore the main crater, Kawah Ratu (Queen's Crater), and enjoy the panoramic views. Souvenir shops and food stalls are available near the crater, offering local snacks and handicrafts. Transportation
From Bandung city, you can take a public bus (Angkot) to Lembang. From Lembang, you can then take another Angkot directly to Tangkuban Perahu. Alternatively, you can hire a taxi or rent a car for a more convenient and direct journey. Be prepared for winding roads as you ascend the mountain.
