Kodachadri Hills: Trek to the Clouds in Karnataka Guide

Embark on an unforgettable adventure to Kodachadri Hills, a majestic peak nestled in the Western Ghats of Karnataka. This biodiversity hotspot offers breathtaking panoramic views, challenging trekking trails, and a glimpse into the region's rich natural heritage. Rising to an elevation of 1,343 meters (4,406 feet), Kodachadri is a popular destination for trekkers, nature enthusiasts, and those seeking a spiritual retreat. Kodachadri holds both historical and religious significance. It is believed to be the place where Adi Shankaracharya, the renowned philosopher and theologian, meditated. The Sarvajna Peetha, a small temple dedicated to him, stands atop the peak. The hills are also home to the Moola Mookambika Temple, believed to be the original abode of the Goddess Mookambika, before the famous temple in Kollur was built. The primary activity at Kodachadri is trekking. Several trails lead to the summit, ranging in difficulty from moderate to challenging. The most popular route starts from Nittur and passes through dense forests, waterfalls, and meadows. Other activities include visiting the Sarvajna Peetha, exploring the Moola Mookambika Temple, and enjoying the stunning sunset views from the peak. The region is known for its simple, rustic cuisine. Expect to find local eateries serving rice-based meals, vegetable curries, and traditional Karnataka dishes.
