Savitri Temple: A Panoramic Pilgrimage Guide

Perched atop Ratnagiri Hill in Pushkar, Rajasthan, the Savitri Temple offers breathtaking panoramic views of the holy city and the surrounding desert landscape. Dedicated to Goddess Savitri, the first wife of Lord Brahma, this temple is a significant pilgrimage site for Hindus and a captivating destination for tourists seeking spiritual solace and stunning vistas. The climb to the temple is an integral part of the experience, offering a sense of accomplishment and rewarding visitors with unparalleled beauty. According to legend, Goddess Savitri cursed Lord Brahma when he performed a yagna (sacrificial ritual) with his second wife, Goddess Gayatri, without her presence. Angered by this act, Savitri retreated to Ratnagiri Hill and remained there. The temple was built to honor her devotion and is believed to be the place where she spent her days in penance. The idol of Goddess Savitri is enshrined within the temple, and devotees offer prayers for blessings and prosperity. The primary activity at Savitri Temple is the climb to the top of Ratnagiri Hill. You can choose to hike up the steep steps or take a cable car (ropeway) for a more convenient ascent. Once at the top, you can admire the stunning views of Pushkar Lake, the surrounding Aravalli hills, and the vast desert landscape. Spend time in quiet contemplation, offer prayers at the temple, and soak in the spiritual atmosphere. Pushkar is known for its vegetarian cuisine, with many restaurants offering traditional Rajasthani dishes like dal baati churma, gatte ki sabzi, and lassi.
