Pt. G.B. Pant High Altitude Zoo Guide
Meet the Mountain Majesty: A Wildlife Adventure in the Himalayas Guide
Nestled amidst the scenic hills of Nainital, the Pt. G.B. Pant High Altitude Zoo offers a unique opportunity to observe animals adapted to the harsh Himalayan climate. Unlike traditional zoos, this one focuses on showcasing species found at high altitudes, providing a glimpse into the fascinating world of Himalayan wildlife. Prepare to be amazed by the snow leopards, Tibetan wolves, and other incredible creatures that call this zoo home. Established in 1984, the zoo was named after Govind Ballabh Pant, a prominent figure in the Indian independence movement and the first Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The zoo's primary goal is to conserve and protect the endangered species of the Himalayan region. It also serves as an educational center, raising awareness about the importance of biodiversity and the need for conservation efforts. The zoo's high altitude location provides a natural habitat for the animals, allowing them to thrive in conditions similar to their native environments. A visit to the Pt. G.B. Pant High Altitude Zoo is an unforgettable experience. Wander through the winding pathways, observing the animals in their spacious enclosures. Marvel at the majestic snow leopards, the elusive red pandas, and the playful Himalayan black bears. The zoo also features a variety of birds, including pheasants and eagles. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, as the zoo is located on a hillside and involves some walking. The zoo also has a small souvenir shop where you can purchase mementos of your visit.
