Manikaran Sahib Guide

A Spiritual Oasis: Experience the Divine at Manikaran Sahib Guide

Manikaran Sahib is a revered pilgrimage site for both Sikhs and Hindus, nestled in the Parvati Valley of Himachal Pradesh, India. This sacred place is renowned for its hot springs, which are believed to possess healing properties, and its Gurudwara (Sikh temple) and Hindu temples, which offer a serene and spiritual atmosphere. The stunning natural beauty of the surrounding mountains adds to the allure of this unique destination. The history of Manikaran Sahib is intertwined with both Sikh and Hindu traditions. According to Sikh legend, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, visited the site in the 16th century. He is said to have performed a miracle by raising a submerged roti (flatbread) from the hot springs. Hindu mythology associates the site with Lord Shiva and his consort, Parvati. It is believed that Parvati lost her precious earrings in the river, and Shiva created the hot springs to retrieve them. Visitors to Manikaran Sahib can participate in a variety of activities. Taking a dip in the hot springs is a must, as the water is believed to cure various ailments. The Gurudwara offers free meals (langar) to all visitors, regardless of their faith. Exploring the temples and soaking in the spiritual atmosphere are also popular activities. The langar at Manikaran Sahib is cooked entirely using the geothermal heat from the hot springs. Rice and vegetables are placed in muslin bags and submerged in the boiling water to cook, offering a unique culinary experience.
