Amritapuri Ashram Guide
Amritapuri Ashram: Find Peace and Spiritual Renewal Guide
Welcome to Amritapuri Ashram, the international headquarters of the Mata Amritanandamayi Math, and the home of the world-renowned spiritual leader, Amma (Mother). Nestled on a slender strip of land between the Arabian Sea and the backwaters of Kerala, this ashram offers a unique opportunity for spiritual seekers and those simply looking for a tranquil escape. Whether you're drawn to meditation, seva (selfless service), or simply the peaceful atmosphere, Amritapuri provides a welcoming and transformative experience. Amritapuri's history is intertwined with the life and work of Amma. What began as a small thatched hut where Amma offered solace and guidance to local villagers has grown into a thriving international community. The ashram is a testament to Amma's teachings of love, compassion, and selfless service. It's a place where people from all walks of life come together to learn, grow, and contribute to a better world. The ashram actively engages in charitable activities, disaster relief, and environmental initiatives, reflecting Amma's commitment to serving humanity. A visit to Amritapuri offers a variety of activities. You can participate in daily prayers and meditation sessions, attend satsangs (spiritual discourses), and engage in seva projects like cleaning, gardening, or helping in the kitchen. The ashram also offers courses on yoga, meditation, and other spiritual practices. Don't miss the opportunity to receive Amma's darshan (blessing), a deeply moving experience for many. The ashram has a canteen serving simple, vegetarian meals. While not a culinary destination in itself, the food is prepared with love and offered as prasadam (blessed food), adding to the spiritual atmosphere.
