Lalbagh's history dates back to the 18th century when it was commissioned by Hyder Ali, the ruler of Mysore. His son, Tipu Sultan, further enriched the garden by importing plants from various parts of the world. The garden was later managed by the British, who continued to develop it into a renowned botanical center. The iconic Glass House, inspired by London's Crystal Palace, was added in 1889 and remains a prominent feature, hosting flower shows twice a year. Visitors can explore the garden's diverse plant life, including rare and exotic species. Take a walk along the winding paths, admire the ancient trees, and relax by the tranquil lake. The Glass House hosts spectacular flower shows during Republic Day (January 26th) and Independence Day (August 15th), attracting large crowds. Don't miss the Lalbagh Rock, a 3000-million-year-old rock formation, or the Kempegowda Tower, offering panoramic views of the garden and the city. Transportation
Lalbagh is well-connected by public transport. You can take the Bangalore Metro to Lalbagh Metro Station (Green Line), which provides direct access to the garden.
