Transportation
Grjótagjá is best accessed by car. It's located near Lake Mývatn, off Route 1 (the Ring Road). From Reykjahlíð, drive east on Route 1 and then turn onto Route 845. Follow the signs for Grjótagjá. Parking is available near the cave entrance. Public transportation options are limited in this area.
