Transportation
Grjótagjá is located near Lake Mývatn and is best accessed by car. From Route 1 (the Ring Road), take Route 860 towards Grjótagjá. There is a small parking area near the cave entrance. Public transportation options are limited in this area of Iceland, so renting a car is highly recommended for exploring the Mývatn region.
