Margaret Island, a tranquil haven in the heart of Budapest, offers a refreshing escape from the bustling city. Historically, Margaret Island served as a royal hunting ground and later as a religious center. It was named after Saint Margaret, the daughter of King Béla IV, who lived in a Dominican convent on the island. The island was transformed into a public park in the late 19th century, becoming a beloved recreational area for locals and tourists alike. Transportation
Take tram lines 4 or 6 to Margaret Bridge (Margit híd) and walk onto the island. Alternatively, bus number 26 provides access to the island.
