Erimitis Beach Guide
Erimitis Beach: Where Turquoise Waters Meet Dramatic Cliffs Guide
Prepare to be mesmerized by Erimitis Beach, arguably the most stunning beach on Paxos. This relatively secluded paradise boasts crystal-clear turquoise waters, dramatic white cliffs, and soft, golden sand. It's a haven for sunbathers, swimmers, and nature lovers seeking tranquility and breathtaking scenery. Erimitis Beach is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Paxos. Erimitis Beach is relatively new, formed after a landslide in 2007 revealed its beauty. Before that, it was a hidden gem known only to locals. The landslide, while initially devastating, ultimately unveiled a breathtaking landscape that has since become a major attraction. The beach's unique geological formation, with its towering cliffs and pristine waters, sets it apart from other beaches in the Ionian Islands. The main activity at Erimitis Beach is, of course, relaxing and soaking up the sun. The water is perfect for swimming and snorkeling, and the soft sand is ideal for sunbathing. You can also explore the nearby cliffs and caves, taking in the stunning views from above. There are no restaurants or tavernas directly on the beach, so be sure to bring your own food and drinks. However, you can find several excellent tavernas in the nearby village of Magazia, offering traditional Greek cuisine.
Transportation
Reaching Erimitis Beach requires a bit of effort, but the reward is well worth it. You can drive or take a bus to the village of Magazia. From there, you'll need to walk down a steep path to the beach. The path is well-maintained but can be challenging, especially in the heat. Alternatively, you can reach the beach by boat from Gaios or Loggos. The bus from Gaios to Magazia is available.
