Agia Anna Beach: Secluded Serenity on Chios Island Guide
Escape the crowds and discover the tranquil beauty of Agia Anna Beach, a hidden gem nestled near the medieval village of Mesta on the island of Chios. This small, picturesque beach offers a peaceful retreat with its crystal-clear turquoise waters, smooth pebbles, and dramatic rocky cliffs. It's the perfect spot for swimming, sunbathing, and simply unwinding amidst the stunning natural scenery. Unlike some of the more developed beaches on Chios, Agia Anna retains a sense of unspoiled charm. There's no bustling promenade or noisy beach bars here, just the gentle sound of the waves lapping against the shore. The beach takes its name from the small chapel of Agia Anna (Saint Anne) located nearby, adding a touch of serenity to the already peaceful atmosphere. Agia Anna Beach is ideal for swimming and snorkeling in its clear, inviting waters. The smooth pebbles make it comfortable for sunbathing, and the surrounding cliffs provide some shade during the hottest hours of the day. While there are no organized water sports facilities, the calm waters are perfect for a leisurely swim. After a relaxing day at the beach, head to Mesta to experience the unique culinary traditions of the region, including dishes flavored with the famous Chios mastic.
