Transportation
The most popular way to reach Brocken is via the Brocken Railway (Brockenbahn), a narrow-gauge steam train that departs from Wernigerode, Drei Annen Hohne, and Nordhausen. From Wernigerode, the journey takes approximately 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can hike to the summit. Several well-marked trails lead to the top, varying in length and difficulty. The Goetheweg is a popular choice, starting from Torfhaus. Bus route 257 runs from Wernigerode to Torfhaus, the starting point for some hiking trails.
