Rheinturm Guide
Reach for the Sky: Unforgettable Views from the Rheinturm Guide
Prepare for breathtaking panoramic views of Düsseldorf and the surrounding region from the Rheinturm (Rhine Tower), the city's tallest structure. This iconic telecommunications tower offers a unique perspective on the city's skyline, the Rhine River, and the sprawling landscape beyond. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned traveler, a trip to the Rheinturm is an unforgettable experience. Completed in 1981, the Rheinturm stands at an impressive 240.5 meters (789 feet) tall. Beyond its functional purpose as a telecommunications tower, it has become a beloved symbol of Düsseldorf. The tower's most distinctive feature is its digital clock, the largest in the world, which displays the time using illuminated dots. This unique feature adds a touch of whimsy to the city's skyline. At the top of the Rheinturm, you'll find a revolving restaurant and observation deck. Enjoy a delicious meal or a refreshing drink while taking in the 360-degree views. The observation deck offers informative displays about the city's landmarks and history. For the adventurous, consider the "Skywalk," an outdoor platform that allows you to step out onto the edge of the tower (weather permitting). While the Rheinturm doesn't have a specific culinary tradition of its own, the revolving restaurant offers a diverse menu with both local and international dishes.
Transportation
The Rheinturm is easily accessible by public transportation. Take the U-Bahn (subway) to Landtag/Kniebrücke station (lines U70, U74, U75, U76, U77). From there, it's a short walk to the tower. Alternatively, you can take tram line 704 to Stadttor station, which is also close to the Rheinturm. Bus lines 726, 732, 805, 817 also stop nearby.
