This UNESCO World Heritage site is a truly unique destination, offering a blend of natural beauty, historical significance, and spiritual serenity. Witness the dramatic tides that surround the island, creating a constantly changing landscape. The history of Mont Saint-Michel dates back to the 8th century when a sanctuary was built on the island after Bishop Aubert of Avranches had a vision of the Archangel Michael. Over the centuries, the abbey grew in importance, becoming a major pilgrimage site and a symbol of French power. During the French Revolution, it was used as a prison before being restored to its former glory in the 19th century. The island's strategic location also made it a formidable fortress, playing a crucial role in defending the region. Experience the thrill of walking across the causeway to the island, especially during high tide when the surrounding waters create a stunning spectacle. Explore the abbey, marveling at its architectural grandeur and panoramic views. Wander through the narrow streets of the village, browsing the shops and enjoying the atmosphere.
