A Wild Adventure Awaits: Discover Lille Zoo Guide

Escape the city bustle and embark on a fascinating journey into the animal kingdom at Lille Zoo. This free zoo, located within the Citadel Park, offers a delightful experience for visitors of all ages. Home to over 400 animals representing 110 different species, Lille Zoo provides a unique opportunity to observe and learn about wildlife from around the world. Lille Zoo was founded in 1902 and has undergone several transformations over the years. Originally a menagerie, it evolved into a modern zoo focused on conservation and education. The zoo is committed to providing a natural and enriching environment for its animals, and it actively participates in breeding programs for endangered species. Visitors can explore a variety of themed areas, including the African Savannah, the South American pampas, and the tropical rainforest. Observe majestic lions, playful monkeys, graceful giraffes, and colorful birds. The zoo also features a petting zoo where children can interact with farm animals. While in Lille, be sure to sample the local cuisine, including "moules-frites" (mussels and fries), "potjevleesch" (a terrine of meats), and the delicious "gaufres" (waffles).
