Garden of the Sleeping Giant Guide
Orchids and Tranquility: Garden of the Sleeping Giant Guide
Escape the hustle and bustle of Nadi and find serenity at the Garden of the Sleeping Giant. This stunning botanical garden, nestled at the foothills of the Sabeto Range, is a haven of tranquility and natural beauty. Explore winding pathways through lush rainforest, admire a breathtaking collection of orchids, and discover hidden ponds and lily pads. It's a perfect escape for nature lovers and those seeking a peaceful retreat. The Garden of the Sleeping Giant was originally the private collection of the late actor Raymond Burr, best known for his roles in Perry Mason and Ironside. Burr began collecting orchids in the 1970s, and his passion grew into this magnificent garden. After his death, the garden was opened to the public, allowing visitors to appreciate his dedication to preserving and showcasing the beauty of orchids and other tropical plants. The name "Sleeping Giant" comes from the shape of the Sabeto mountain range, which resembles a sleeping giant when viewed from certain angles. Visitors can wander through the garden's various sections, including the orchid collection, the lily pond, and the rainforest trail. Take your time to admire the diverse array of orchids, from delicate blooms to vibrant hybrids. Relax by the lily pond and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. For a more adventurous experience, hike the rainforest trail and discover hidden waterfalls and panoramic views. While the garden doesn't have a specific culinary tradition, you can enjoy refreshments at the garden's cafe.
