Bakken Amusement Park Guide
Bakken: Step Back in Time at the World's Oldest Amusement Park! Guide
Welcome to Bakken, the world's oldest amusement park, nestled in the lush Dyrehaven (Deer Park) just north of Copenhagen. Unlike its more modern counterparts, Bakken exudes a charming, old-world atmosphere, offering a unique blend of thrilling rides, traditional entertainment, and a relaxed, family-friendly environment. Imagine strolling through tree-lined paths, the scent of roasted almonds in the air, and the sounds of laughter and music filling the air – that's the magic of Bakken! Bakken's history stretches back to 1583 when a natural spring was discovered in the area, attracting crowds seeking its supposedly healing waters. Entertainers and vendors soon followed, laying the foundation for the amusement park we know today. While many of the original structures have been replaced over the centuries, Bakken has retained its historical charm and commitment to providing classic amusement park experiences. It's a place where you can ride a wooden roller coaster built in the 1930s, try your luck at traditional carnival games, and enjoy live music in a variety of venues. At Bakken, you can experience a wide range of activities. Thrill-seekers can brave the park's roller coasters, including the iconic wooden coaster, Rutschebanen. Families with younger children will find plenty of gentle rides and attractions to enjoy. Beyond the rides, Bakken offers a variety of entertainment options, including live music performances, variety shows, and street performers. Foodies will also be delighted by the park's diverse culinary offerings, ranging from traditional Danish fare to international cuisine. Don't miss the chance to try some classic Danish smørrebrød (open-faced sandwiches) or indulge in a delicious ice cream cone.
