Pravčická brána: Majestic Gateway to Bohemian Switzerland Guide

Prepare to be awestruck by the Pravčická brána, the largest natural sandstone arch in Europe and the iconic symbol of Bohemian Switzerland National Park. This monumental rock formation, sculpted by millennia of wind and rain, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. A visit here is a must for nature lovers and anyone seeking a truly unforgettable experience. The Pravčická brána's history is intertwined with the development of tourism in the region. In the late 19th century, a hotel called Sokolí hnízdo (Falcon's Nest) was built directly beneath the arch, providing accommodation and refreshments for visitors. This hotel still stands today and adds to the charm of the location. While climbing on the arch itself has been prohibited since 1982 to protect it from further erosion, the surrounding trails and viewpoints offer ample opportunities to appreciate its grandeur. Visitors can explore the area via several hiking trails, ranging in difficulty from easy strolls to more challenging climbs. The most popular trail leads from Hřensko to the arch, offering stunning views along the way. You can also visit the Falcon's Nest hotel for a meal or a drink while enjoying the incredible scenery. Don't forget your camera – the Pravčická brána is a photographer's dream!
