Dubovica Beach Guide
Dubovica Beach: Hvar's Hidden Gem Guide
Escape the bustling Hvar Town and discover the tranquil beauty of Dubovica Beach, a picturesque cove nestled on the southern coast of Hvar Island. This stunning beach, accessible by a winding road and a short walk, offers a serene escape with its crystal-clear turquoise waters, smooth white pebbles, and charming stone houses clinging to the hillside. It's the perfect spot for a relaxing day of swimming, sunbathing, and soaking up the authentic Dalmatian atmosphere. While Dubovica doesn't boast a rich historical narrative like some of Hvar's other attractions, its charm lies in its unspoiled natural beauty and traditional way of life. The small stone houses surrounding the beach have been passed down through generations, adding to the beach's unique character. Imagine yourself swimming in the azure waters, surrounded by the scent of pine trees and the gentle sounds of the sea – a truly idyllic experience. Activities at Dubovica Beach are centered around relaxation and enjoying the natural surroundings. Swimming and sunbathing are the main draws, but you can also rent kayaks or paddleboards to explore the coastline. There's a small konoba (traditional Dalmatian restaurant) located right on the beach, serving fresh seafood and local specialties. Be sure to try the grilled fish or the pašticada (Dalmatian beef stew) for a taste of authentic Hvar cuisine. The konoba offers a perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely lunch with stunning sea views.
Transportation
Reaching Dubovica Beach requires a bit of effort, but it's well worth it. The easiest way is by car or scooter. From Hvar Town, follow the road south towards Milna. Look for signs for Dubovica, and be prepared for a narrow, winding road down to the beach. Parking is limited, especially during peak season. Alternatively, you can take a taxi or a water taxi from Hvar Town. The water taxi offers a scenic ride along the coast and drops you directly on the beach.
