It's a place to reconnect with nature and discover the raw beauty of the country. It serves as a crucial nesting site for sea turtles, and the surrounding rainforest is teeming with biodiversity. The area has been protected to preserve its natural state, ensuring that future generations can experience its pristine beauty. The local community is deeply invested in conservation efforts, making Playa Carate a model for sustainable tourism. Playa Carate is an adventurer's paradise. Surfing is popular, though the waves can be powerful and are best suited for experienced surfers. Hiking along the beach and into the nearby rainforest is a must, offering opportunities to spot monkeys, sloths, and a variety of bird species. Keep an eye out for scarlet macaws soaring overhead! You can also take guided tours to explore the surrounding area, including the nearby Corcovado National Park. While there aren't restaurants directly on the beach, the nearby towns offer traditional Costa Rican cuisine, featuring fresh seafood, rice and beans, and plantains. Don't miss the chance to try a "casado," a typical Costa Rican lunch plate.
