Haixinsha: From Asian Games Glory to Modern Oasis Guide
Haixinsha Asian Games Park, located on Haixinsha Island in the heart of Guangzhou, is a vibrant public space that offers stunning views of the city skyline and the Pearl River. Originally built for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 Asian Games, the park has been transformed into a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. It's a great place to stroll, relax, take photos, and soak in the modern atmosphere of Guangzhou. Haixinsha Island was specifically chosen as the venue for the 2010 Asian Games ceremonies due to its central location and its potential to showcase Guangzhou's modern development. After the games, the park was redesigned to be a multi-functional space, incorporating green areas, walking paths, and event venues. The iconic "Sail" structures, which served as the backdrop for the ceremonies, remain a prominent feature of the park. Today, Haixinsha Asian Games Park offers a variety of activities. You can take a leisurely walk along the riverfront promenade, enjoy a picnic on the lawn, or attend one of the many events that are held in the park throughout the year. The park is particularly beautiful at night, when the city skyline is illuminated and the Pearl River sparkles. While you're in the area, consider taking a Pearl River cruise for a different perspective of the city. Guangzhou is known for its Cantonese cuisine, and you'll find plenty of restaurants near Haixinsha offering delicious local dishes.
