Milk Lake, also known as Niunai Hai in Chinese, is a stunning alpine lake nestled within the Yading Nature Reserve in Daocheng County, Sichuan Province. This glacial lake is renowned for its crystal-clear turquoise waters, surrounded by snow-capped mountains and lush meadows. The breathtaking scenery makes it a popular destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts seeking unparalleled beauty. The Yading Nature Reserve, where Milk Lake is located, is considered a sacred place by the local Tibetan people. Most visitors start from the Yading Village and hike or take a shuttle bus to a certain point, then continue on foot or horseback. Transportation
The most common way to reach Yading Nature Reserve (and thus Milk Lake) is to fly to Daocheng Yading Airport (DCY). From the airport, take a shuttle bus to Shangri-La Town (also known as Xianggelila Town). From Shangri-La Town, you can take a bus or taxi to the Yading Nature Reserve entrance. Inside the reserve, shuttle buses are available to take you closer to the hiking trails leading to Milk Lake.
