Jingshan Park Guide

Panoramic Views of the Forbidden City: Discover Jingshan Park Guide

Jingshan Park, located directly north of the Forbidden City, offers breathtaking panoramic views of the imperial palace and the surrounding city of Beijing. This beautiful park is a popular destination for both locals and tourists seeking a tranquil escape from the bustling city and a unique perspective on one of China's most iconic landmarks. Ascend to the top of Jingshan Hill, the park's central feature, and be rewarded with unparalleled vistas. Jingshan Park's history is deeply intertwined with that of the Forbidden City. The hill itself is artificial, constructed from the earth excavated during the creation of the Forbidden City's moat. During the Ming Dynasty, it served as a private garden for the imperial family. In the Qing Dynasty, the last emperor of the Ming Dynasty, Chongzhen, famously hanged himself on a tree in the park after the fall of Beijing to rebel forces. The park was later opened to the public. Visitors to Jingshan Park can enjoy a variety of activities. The primary draw is, of course, climbing Jingshan Hill for the stunning views. The park also features several pavilions, gardens, and historical sites. Many locals come to Jingshan Park to practice tai chi, fly kites, sing, or simply relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. You can also find vendors selling traditional Chinese snacks and souvenirs within the park.
