Attraction Guide: Torres del Paine B Circuit, Puerto Natales, Chile

Torres del Paine B Circuit Guide

Conquer the B Circuit: An Unforgettable Patagonian Trek Guide

The "B Circuit" in Torres del Paine National Park is a challenging yet rewarding multi-day trek that offers a more remote and less crowded experience compared to the popular "W Trek." This circuit takes you through stunning landscapes, including the French Valley, the Grey Glacier, and the backside of the Paine Massif. It's a true adventure for experienced hikers seeking solitude and unparalleled natural beauty. Like the rest of Torres del Paine, the B Circuit's history is primarily geological. The trail winds through areas shaped by glaciers and volcanic activity over millions of years. While the Tehuelche people inhabited the region, their presence is less directly felt on this more remote section of the park compared to areas closer to the park entrances. The B Circuit became a popular trekking route as tourism to Torres del Paine increased, offering a more challenging and less crowded alternative to the W Trek. The primary activity on the B Circuit is, of course, hiking. This trek typically takes 7-10 days to complete and requires a good level of fitness and experience with multi-day backpacking. Along the way, you'll have the opportunity to camp under the stars, witness the calving of glaciers, and marvel at the towering granite peaks. Be prepared for unpredictable weather conditions and pack accordingly. Booking campsites in advance is essential, especially during peak season.

Transportation

The B Circuit starts and ends at the same points as the W Trek, so transportation to the park is the same. Buses run regularly from Puerto Natales to the park entrances (Laguna Amarga, Pudeto, and Serrano). From Punta Arenas, you can take a bus to Puerto Natales and then transfer to a bus to the park. You'll need to arrange transportation to the starting point of your trek, which is typically either the Central Sector (near Hotel Las Torres) or the Pudeto catamaran terminal.
