Grouse Mountain Guide
The Peak of Vancouver: Adventure Awaits! Guide
Grouse Mountain, affectionately known as "The Peak of Vancouver," offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city, the Pacific Ocean, and the surrounding mountains. It's a year-round destination that provides a unique blend of outdoor adventure, wildlife encounters, and cultural experiences, all just a short distance from downtown Vancouver. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or a casual tourist, Grouse Mountain promises an unforgettable experience. While not steeped in ancient history, Grouse Mountain's modern history is tied to its development as a recreational area. In the early 20th century, hikers began exploring the mountain, and in 1926, the first Grouse Mountain Highway was built, opening up access for more visitors. The iconic Grouse Mountain Skyride, an aerial tramway, was introduced in 1966, revolutionizing access to the summit and solidifying Grouse Mountain as a major tourist attraction. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of activities at Grouse Mountain. In the summer, hiking trails abound, from leisurely strolls to challenging climbs. The Lumberjack Show offers a fun and educational glimpse into the region's logging history. You can also visit the Refuge for Endangered Wildlife, home to rescued grizzly bears and wolves. In the winter, skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and ice skating are popular activities. The Skyride itself is a must-do, offering stunning views as you ascend to the peak. Dining options range from casual cafes to fine-dining restaurants, all with incredible views.
