Hike to Tranquility: Lake Agnes Tea House Experience Guide

Escape the crowds and embark on a scenic hike to the historic Lake Agnes Tea House, nestled beside a pristine alpine lake high above Lake Louise. This charming tea house offers a unique opportunity to enjoy a refreshing cup of tea and homemade treats in a stunning natural setting. The moderate hike is well worth the effort, rewarding you with breathtaking views and a taste of mountain hospitality. The Lake Agnes Tea House has a rich history dating back to 1901 when the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) built a simple log cabin as a refuge for hikers. In 1905, the CPR replaced the cabin with a more substantial structure, and the tea house officially opened its doors. For over a century, the Lake Agnes Tea House has been serving weary hikers with tea, sandwiches, and baked goods, becoming a beloved tradition for visitors to Lake Louise. The tea house is still run without electricity or running water, adding to its rustic charm. The primary activity is, of course, hiking to the tea house and enjoying the views and refreshments. The 3.5 km (2.2 miles) trail climbs steadily through a forest, passing Mirror Lake and a waterfall along the way. Once at Lake Agnes, you can relax on the shores of the lake, explore the surrounding trails, or simply savor a cup of tea and a homemade scone at the tea house. The tea house offers a variety of teas, sandwiches, soups, and baked goods, all made fresh daily.
