Fairview Lookout: A Short Hike for Big Views Guide

For a quick and rewarding hike with incredible views of Lake Louise and the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, look no further than Fairview Lookout. This short, steep trail climbs through a lush forest to a wooden platform offering a postcard-perfect panorama. It's an excellent option for families, those with limited time, or anyone seeking a relatively easy way to experience the beauty of the area. Fairview Lookout, like Saddleback Pass, is a relatively recent development in terms of formal trails and viewpoints. However, the stunning vista it offers has undoubtedly been appreciated for centuries by Indigenous peoples and later by early explorers and visitors to Lake Louise. The construction of the trail and the lookout platform made this incredible view accessible to a wider range of people. The main activity at Fairview Lookout is, of course, enjoying the view! The hike to the lookout is approximately 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) one way, with a moderate elevation gain. Allow 30-60 minutes for a round trip. The trail is well-maintained but can be steep in places, so wear comfortable shoes. Bring your camera to capture the stunning scenery. From the lookout, you can continue hiking to Saddleback Pass for a longer and more challenging adventure.
