Police Beach: Adventure and Beauty Combined Guide

Police Beach, located on the northern part of Koh Rong, offers a unique blend of stunning natural beauty and adventurous activities. This secluded stretch of sand is known for its pristine white sands, crystal-clear waters, and lush jungle backdrop. Unlike some of the more developed beaches on the island, Police Beach retains a sense of tranquility and unspoiled charm, making it a perfect escape for those seeking a more secluded experience. The name "Police Beach" is rumored to originate from a small police outpost that was once located nearby. However, the beach's history is more about its natural beauty than any significant historical events. It's a place where you can disconnect from the hustle and bustle of modern life and reconnect with nature. The beach is relatively undeveloped, with only a few bungalows and restaurants, which adds to its peaceful atmosphere. Police Beach offers a variety of activities for tourists. Swimming and sunbathing are, of course, popular choices. The clear waters are perfect for snorkeling, and you can often spot colorful fish and coral just offshore. For the adventurous, hiking through the jungle to nearby beaches is a must. One popular hike leads to Coconut Beach, offering stunning views along the way. In the evenings, relax on the beach and enjoy a bonfire under the stars. While Police Beach doesn't have a specific culinary tradition, the local restaurants serve fresh seafood and Khmer cuisine, providing a taste of the local flavors.

Transportation

Reaching Police Beach requires a bit of effort, adding to its secluded charm. From Koh Touch (the main pier on Koh Rong), you can take a longtail boat (approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour). Alternatively, you can hike through the jungle, which takes around 2-3 hours. The boat is the easier option, especially if you have luggage. Be sure to negotiate the price with the boat operator. The hike is more challenging but offers stunning views and a chance to experience the island's natural beauty. Wear appropriate footwear and bring plenty of water if you choose to hike.
