Devil's Throat Guide

Experience the Raw Power of Nature at Devil's Throat Guide

The Devil's Throat (Garganta del Diablo in Spanish, Garganta do Diabo in Portuguese) is the largest and most impressive of the hundreds of waterfalls that make up Iguazu Falls, located on the border between Argentina and Brazil. It's a U-shaped cataract, 82 meters (269 ft) high, 150 meters (490 ft) wide, and 700 meters (2,300 ft) long. The sheer volume of water cascading over the edge creates a deafening roar and a perpetual mist that hangs in the air, making it a truly awe-inspiring sight. Iguazu Falls, including the Devil's Throat, was formed millions of years ago by a volcanic eruption that left a large crack in the earth. Over time, the Iguazu River carved its way through the rock, creating the spectacular series of waterfalls that we see today. The Devil's Throat is the point where the majority of the river's flow converges, creating the most powerful and dramatic cascade. The falls were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984, recognizing their exceptional natural beauty and ecological significance. Visiting the Devil's Throat is an unforgettable experience. You can reach the falls via a series of walkways and bridges that extend out over the river. The main access point is from the Brazilian side, where a panoramic view of the falls awaits. From the Argentinian side, a train takes you closer to the falls, followed by a walk along a suspended walkway that leads directly to the edge of the Devil's Throat. Be prepared to get wet from the spray! The sheer power and scale of the falls are truly breathtaking, and the experience is sure to leave you in awe of nature's raw beauty.
