Praia Brava Guide
Praia Brava: Surf's Up in Búzios! Guide
Praia Brava, meaning "Wild Beach," lives up to its name as one of the best surfing spots in Búzios. Unlike the calm waters of Ferradura, Praia Brava boasts strong waves and a more rugged coastline, attracting surfers from all over. Even if you're not a surfer, the beach's natural beauty and vibrant atmosphere make it a worthwhile visit. Praia Brava's history is intertwined with the surfing culture that has flourished in Búzios. While not steeped in ancient history, the beach has become a modern landmark for wave riders. Its consistent waves and stunning scenery have made it a popular destination for surf competitions and a favorite among local and international surfers. The main activity at Praia Brava is, of course, surfing! Several surf schools offer lessons for beginners, and experienced surfers can rent boards and hit the waves. If surfing isn't your thing, you can still enjoy the beach by sunbathing, swimming (be cautious of the strong currents), or hiking along the coastal trails. There are also a few kiosks offering refreshments and snacks. While Praia Brava doesn't have a specific culinary tradition, the kiosks offer typical Brazilian beach fare like acai bowls and grilled skewers.
Transportation
To reach Praia Brava from the Búzios bus terminal, you can take a local bus or a taxi. Look for buses heading towards Praia Brava or João Fernandes. Taxis are a convenient option for a direct ride. Be prepared for a short walk from the bus stop to the beach itself.
