Almécegas Waterfalls Guide
Almécegas Waterfalls: Plunge into Paradise Guide
The Almécegas Waterfalls, located within the São Bento Farm near Alto Paraíso de Goiás, are a must-see for any visitor to Chapada dos Veadeiros. This complex features two stunning waterfalls: Almécegas I and Almécegas II, each offering a unique experience. Almécegas I is the larger and more impressive of the two, cascading down a towering cliff into a refreshing pool below. Almécegas II is smaller but equally beautiful, with a series of smaller falls and natural pools perfect for swimming and relaxing. The São Bento Farm, where the waterfalls are located, has a history rooted in agriculture and cattle ranching. Over time, the owners recognized the potential for ecotourism and transformed the farm into a nature reserve, preserving the natural beauty of the area and providing access to the waterfalls. The farm also offers other activities, such as horseback riding and hiking trails, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the stunning landscape. At Almécegas I, you can swim in the large pool at the base of the falls, hike to the top for panoramic views, or simply relax and enjoy the natural beauty. Almécegas II offers a more tranquil experience, with smaller pools perfect for a refreshing dip. The São Bento Farm also has a restaurant serving traditional Brazilian cuisine, including dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. Be sure to try the pão de queijo (cheese bread) and other regional specialties.
