Australian Reptile Park Guide
Get Up Close and Personal with Australia's Wildlife! Guide
The Australian Reptile Park, located in Somersby, NSW, is a fantastic destination for animal lovers of all ages. More than just a zoo, it's a hands-on experience where you can encounter some of Australia's most iconic and fascinating creatures. From cuddly koalas to fearsome reptiles, the park offers a unique opportunity to learn about and appreciate the diverse wildlife of Australia and beyond. Founded in 1948 by Eric Worrell, the park initially focused on venom research and antivenom production. Worrell, a passionate naturalist, recognized the need for a facility dedicated to studying and protecting Australian reptiles. Over the years, the park has expanded its collection to include a wide variety of animals, becoming a leading conservation and education center. It plays a crucial role in educating the public about the importance of wildlife conservation and the dangers of venomous creatures. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including daily shows featuring snakes, crocodiles, and other reptiles. You can also get up close and personal with koalas, kangaroos, and other native animals. The park offers behind-the-scenes tours and educational programs for all ages. Don't miss the opportunity to witness the daily feeding of Elvis, the park's massive saltwater crocodile! The park also actively participates in breeding programs for endangered species, contributing to the conservation of Australian wildlife.
