Transportation
The Great Beach Drive starts near Rainbow Beach. The closest major airport is Brisbane Airport (BNE). From Brisbane, you can rent a 4WD vehicle and drive approximately 2.5 hours north to Rainbow Beach. Alternatively, you can take a bus from Brisbane to Rainbow Beach. Several bus companies operate this route. Once in Rainbow Beach, you'll need a 4WD vehicle and a permit to access the beach driving areas. Permits can be obtained online or at the Rainbow Beach Information Centre.
