Killen Falls: A Hidden Oasis of Natural Beauty Guide

Escape to the enchanting Killen Falls, a hidden oasis nestled just a short drive from Ballina. This stunning waterfall cascades into a refreshing pool, surrounded by lush rainforest. It's a perfect spot for a nature walk, a refreshing swim, or simply relaxing and soaking in the beauty of the natural world. Prepare to be mesmerized by the power and tranquility of this hidden gem. Killen Falls holds significance for the local Bundjalung people, who have a deep connection to the land and its waterways. The falls and surrounding rainforest are considered a sacred place, and visitors are encouraged to treat the area with respect. The falls have also become a popular destination for locals and tourists alike, seeking a respite from the coastal heat and a chance to connect with nature. The main activity at Killen Falls is, of course, admiring the waterfall! Take the short but steep walk down to the viewing platform for breathtaking views of the falls and the surrounding rainforest. For the adventurous, a path leads down to the base of the falls, where you can take a refreshing swim in the pool (exercise caution as rocks can be slippery). Remember to wear appropriate footwear and bring insect repellent. While there are no food vendors at Killen Falls, pack a picnic lunch to enjoy in the designated picnic area near the car park.
